With respect to ongoing restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemia, the steering committee of the Castle Meetings held a zoom video conference on April 29 to discuss the the coming meeting.
After thorough discussion, and upon agreement with the local organizers and management of the Ruđer Bošković Institute in Zagreb, we have decided to postpone the 17th Castle Meeting on Paleo, Rock and Environmental Magnetism, which was scheduled to be held on 23-29 August 2020, most probably until the end of August 2022.
The associated short course for students will also be postponed until this time. We will closely monitor, however, the situation and will be ready to modify this decision according to the actual circumstances. In case of no conflict with other relevant major meetings in 2021 and a favorable epidemiologic situation, the Castle Meeting may be held in August 2021.
A final decision about new conference dates will be made in January 2021 at the latest.
With regards to anyone who has already paid fees, both the Hotel Trakošćan and LOC are very flexible and several options are available:
1. To keep the payments and shift them to 2021/2022;
2. To have either or both the registration fee and hotel payment reimbursed upon request.
3. Contributors are free to keep their same abstract for the re-scheduled meeting, but may also withdraw and submit a new abstract.
We are all very sorry that the traditional meeting cannot take place in the originally planned time period this year, but the health and social comfort of all the participants is our primary concern. We look forward of seeing everyone at the meeting in 2021 or 2022 and making a toast to good science and good health.
